چکیده

Ligninolytic white rot fungus, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, isolated from soil sample of petroleum refinery, was used for degradation of five polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs: acenaphthene, anthracene, phenanthrene, fluoranthene and pyrene), simultaneously and individually in sterile and unsterile soil. For maximum biodegradation, after 42 days of incubation, optimum conditions were pH 7.0, 30°C and 5μg/g PAHs concentration. In sterile soil, degradation in 42 days of incubation of five PAHs was as follows: phenanthrene, 98.96; anthracene, 92.6; pyrene, 92.2; acenaphthene, 83.8; and fluoranthene, 79.8%. In unsterile soil, PAHs degradation was low (38.94-62.89%).

Involvement of the Ligninolytic System of White-Rot and Litter-Decomposing Fungi in the Degradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are natural and anthropogenic aromatic hydrocarbons with two or more fused benzene rings. Because of their ubiquitous occurrence, recalcitrance, bioaccumulation potential and carcinogenic activity, PAHs are a significant environmental concern. Ligninolytic fungi, such as Phanerochaete chrysosporium, Bjerkandera adusta, and Pleurotus ostreatus, have the ca...

Biological Removal of Dibenzothiophene from Soil and Changes to soil Sulfate by White-Rot Fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium

This study investigated biodegradation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) in marsh soil spiked bywhite-rot fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium. Soil samples were spiked with 100 ppm DBTand incubated at 30°C in a dark chamber for 30 days. Samples were evaluated for pH, Mnperoxidaseactivity, sulfate ion concentration and growth during the tests. Results showedmaximum levels of pH, Mn-peroxidase and sulfate...

Manganese peroxidase mRNA and enzyme activity levels during bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-contaminated soil with Phanerochaete chrysosporium.

mRNA extraction from soil and quantitation by competitive reverse transcription-PCR were combined to study the expression of three manganese peroxidase (MnP) genes during removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from cultures of Phanerochaete chrysosporium grown in presterilized soil. Periods of high mnp transcript levels and extractable MnP enzyme activity were temporally correlated, althou...

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-degrading capabilities of Phanerochaete laevis HHB-1625 and its extracellular ligninolytic enzymes.

The ability of Phanerochaete laevis HHB-1625 to transform polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in liquid culture was studied in relation to its complement of extracellular ligninolytic enzymes. In nitrogen-limited liquid medium, P. laevis produced high levels of manganese peroxidase (MnP). MnP activity was strongly regulated by the amount of Mn2+ in the culture medium, as has been previously...
